Internationally renowned potter Lisa Hammond offers
evening pottery throwing classes at Kigbeare Studios. Classes are taken in a
professional working atmosphere, the workshop is glass fronted and looks out
over the courtyard, providing a unique making environment.
The evening course is ideal for beginners but offers the
opportunity for students of all levels of ability to improve their skills and
techniques in throwing. Led by apprentice Bethan Jones, the focus of the classes is on learning the basics in creating
wheel-thrown work, along with other related skills such as clay preparation,
turning, handling, and glazing. Students with more experience will have the freedom
to experiment on the wheel as well as to improve upon specific technical
aspects of making.
The classes are aimed at local
people in the South West and the studio spaciously accommodates 8 students,
ensuring sufficient one-on-one tuition
with excellent facilities, including an electric potter’s wheel for each of the
students that attend.
Each 6-week course fee is £125 and includes the firing of
up to 6 medium-sized pieces of your own work, if you wish to fire more pieces,
these will be charged at cost, £1.50 per 1lb in weight.
